Scalp Micropigmentation men & women

Scalp Micropigmentation

What is scalp micropigmentation (SMP for short)?
Thousands of tiny droplets of specialised ink are skillfully implanted into the dermal layer of the skin, using a special micro fine sterile needle.
The ink or pigment is mixed to match your own hair colour, and applied to the scalp in a detailed patterned sequence – they appear as tiny dots

What does it look like?
The tiny dots of ink simulate the appearance of shaved hair follicles, and create the illusion of texture and fullness.

What does it feel like?
The treatment is minimally invasive being non-surgical, and drug free. It is generally not thought to be too uncomfortable, and is scar free.

Why may I want this treatment?
This treatment is excellent for bringing back your hairline to its natural position, it make your hair thicker, it may improve your confidence, allow you to partake in activities you have avoided. You may even look younger!

SMP is suitable for Men and Women with:

Male pattern baldness (Hamilton scale)
Female Pattern Baldness - diffuse thinning (Ludwig scale)
Alopecia Areata (be aware that AA is highly unpredictable – as is AT)
Alopecia Totalis
Alopecia Universalis
Other hair loss conditions once the disease has stabilised (this may require confirmation by a doctor or trichologist)
Scars (Scars will need sufficient time to heal prior to SMP)
Neurosurgery Scars
Trauma Scars
Scars from FUT and FUE procedures (Hair transplant surgeries)
Chemotherapy Patients (following sufficient time if hair growth is sparse)
Regional thinning
Traction alopecia
3D treatment merging hair transplant and SMP
Please ask about beard treatment
How long does it take?
The average scalp has about 60,000 follicles, thus the procedure can be lengthy. Sessions can sometimes take 4 hours or longer, depending on the site that needs to be covered. Three visits are expected, and placed 10 days to 4 weeks apart. The reason for the three visits is there may be some fading following the initial treatment. Also each scalp and skin type and colour processes the ink differently.

Visit 1 - Deciding on a hairline if appropriate - and 'building' a structure to the chosen area.

Visit 2 – 10 days later. Checking on the colour or any fading. Also working on building up the density.

Visit 3 - 4 Weeks later. Fine tuning, adding density if necessary. Please note that some people may require a fourth visit.

So what hair line would you like?
I can help you design a natural (Broken) or blunt hairline (razor cut appearance). Come with an idea, (or not), bring a picture, or an old photo of yourself. We can then work together to achieve the most realistic look.

A Skin Patch test is required
Note: Patch Tests are not 100% guaranteed to rule out allergic reactions following the
procedure. A doctor’s note may be required for certain health problems.

Hair does NOT need to be shaved!
However the effect in those with a completely shaved head is the most effective. Bald areas will be blended seamlessly with hair bearing areas. Ladies you do not have to shave your head - unless that is your desired look.

How about thinning hair?
In this case a density effect technique is applied, this involves micro dots being implanted on the scalp between the hairs. Similarly with alopecia patches I will work with the hair you have.

Total Hair Loss?
Whether the baldness is genetic, Alopecia Areata, Alopecia totalis, or Alopecia Universalis. Not a problem!

Is SMP permanent?
Yes it is permanent, but may need some freshening up around the 3 year mark. Also if your hair loss progresses you may want me to fill in the gaps.

Can anyone have SMP?
Most people can have SMP, however those with certain medical conditions, allergies, or medications should avoid treatment (SMP - When I can't treat you)
